22A: The Threshold of Generation

Practice generates Heat to achieve Threshold of Generation

To transcend Fate and achieve our Destiny, we must cross the Threshold of Generation. The only way to cross the Threshold is to have a Cauldron that is strong enough and a cooking Fire that is hot and regular enough. If the Threshold is not attained, the Person remains a victim. Rather than choosing when to participate and when to refrain from entering into the madness, the individual is buffeted around by forces that could be more under his control.

Fate < Threshold of Generation < (Destiny = Self Transcendence)

(To Pass the Threshold), the (Cauldron = Strong) And (Fire = Hot)

In terms of our metaphors, a particular temperature must be reached for Dough to become Bread - for the Meat deemed to be cooked rather than Raw - for the Iron to be extracted from its Ore. The Threshold of Generation is the point in time when not enough becomes enough. The Dough is now nourishing Bread. We can now cut and eat the Meat easily. The Iron can now be transformed into weapons of mass destruction. Or Mental Energy has focused our Attention upon a data stream for a sufficient duration for Moments to become a Life changing Experience.

This Experience could range from seeing the color blue to the final session that completes the Masterpiece. The complexity of the event is determined by the level of participation in the Hierarchy of Experience. The Hierarchy ranges from sensory to psychological and even spiritual. It requires an accumulation of Experiences via Sustained Attention for the Human to attain the deeper levels of what we deem to be Transformation. At each floor in the Hierarchy, from individual moments to collective experiences and transformations, Attention must be sustained for a sufficient duration to cross the Threshold of Generation. Interruptions at any level of whatever variety can abort this process - the Firing Process. Mathematically, the Momentum of Attention must complete its Pulse for Transformation to occur.

• The Cauldron's strength and the Fire's temperature is increased through regular and balanced Practice. Not too little – not too much. If the Practice is insufficient, the Flame doesn't become hot enough to pass the Threshold and achieve transformation. If there is too much Practice, there is the risk of cracking the Pot.

Summarizing: to avoid becoming a Victim of Fate, the Person must generate and contain Energy through persistent Practice.

Practice takes various forms. The daily pollution of Body and Mind requires regular cleaning. Daily purification prevents the pollution – the Red Dust of cultural conditioning – from building up into dangerous residues that contributes to physical and mental breakdowns. For the Cauldron to be strong enough to contain the energy of the Flame, it is equally important to strengthen the Body through regular exercise. The regular practice of Yoga and Tai Chi serves the function of purifying and strengthening the Body/Cauldron so that it is contains and transmits the energy.

Consecutive with the consistent practice of purification is the regular practice of the Art of Life. Art is another general term that includes traditional meanings, such as painting, writing, or instrumentation. The Art of Life also encompasses the process of self-actualization – realizing potentials. While purification practices refine the Body and Mind of Pollution, generation practices refine Life's Art. For instance, the Art of raising Children includes the purification of Body and Mind, as well as creating a stimulating environment.

Purification refines Body and Mind. Creation refines the Art of Life. Both methods of refinement require an intense focus upon subtlety and differentiation.
