Modern Initiation into Mysteries occurs without the Initiate even being aware that he is part of an initiation rite because the transformation occurs on a bodily level. The Novice enters into the initiatory cycle unaware.
Novice: ÒI am entering a Tai Chi exercise class for peace of mind.Ó
Once the cycles of repetitions build upon themselves the nerve bundles in the nervous system of the body unclog. The channels open up. With the unclogging come breakthroughs which happen all of a sudden. Some are minor gushes, while others, less frequent, are major quakes. The largest quakes are considered enlightenment or initiation experiences. At a certain imperceptible point the Novice becomes an Initiate and then gradually moves through the imperceptible stages of initiation to Adept and Master.
